เมื่อวันที่ 18 เมษายน 2556 สถานกงสุลใหญ่ ณ นครกว่างโจวร่วมกับสมาคมนักเรียนไทยในมณฑลกวางตุ้งและมหาวิทยาลัยจี้หนาน ได้จัดงานเทศกาลสงกรานต์เอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ 2556 ณ วิทยาลัยภาษาและวัฒนธรรมจีน มหาวิทยาลัยจี้หนาน

            ในช่วงพิธีเปิดงาน นายเย่ ฉิน รองอธิการบดีมหาวิทยาลัยจี้หนานได้กล่าวว่า มหาวิทยาลัยจี้หนานเป็นมหาวิทยาลัยแห่งแรกในจีนที่เปิดรับนักศึกษาต่างชาติและมีความยินดีที่ได้ร่วมกิจกรรมอันเป็นการแลกเปลี่ยนวัฒนธรรมกับต่างประเทศในครั้งนี้ ต่อมา นางสุพัตรา ศรีไมตรีพิทักษ์ กงสุลใหญ่ ณ นครกว่างโจวได้กล่าวถึงประวัติความเป็นมาของเทศกาลสงกรานต์ รวมถึงประเพณีที่ชาวไทยได้สืบสานต่อกันมาในวันสงกรานต์ เช่น การสรงน้ำพระ การบายศรีสู่ขวัญ ซึ่งผู้บริหารทั้งฝ่ายไทยและจีนที่เข้าร่วมงานครั้งนี้ก็ได้ร่วมพิธีสรงน้ำพระและพิธีบายศรีสู่ขวัญด้วย 

             ภายในงานมีการแสดงทางวัฒนธรรมหลายชุดจากนักศึกษาไทย ลาวและพม่า บนเวทีมีการจับฉลากเพื่อชิงรางวัลบัตรโดยสารเครื่องบินไป-กลับ กรุงเทพฯ-กว่างโจวซึ่งสนับสนุนโดยบริษัทการบินไทย สำนักงานกว่างโจว ขณะที่บริเวณด้านข้างเวทีมีการจัดนิทรรศการเกี่ยวกับเทศกาลสงกรานต์และประเทศที่ร่วมจัดงาน รวมถึงมีบูธชิมและจำหน่ายอาหารทานเล่นที่ปรุงโดยนักศึกษาแต่ละประเทศที่เข้าร่วมงาน ภายหลังจากการแสดงทางวัฒนธรรมและกิจกรรมบนเวที มีการเปิดโอกาสให้เยาวชน นักศึกษาชาติจีนและต่างประเทศรวมถึงผู้เข้าร่วมงานทั่วไปได้เล่นสาดน้ำอย่างสนุกสนาน

Royal Thai Consulate-General in Guangzhou Co-organised SEA's Songkarn Festival 2013

On 18 April 2013, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Guangzhou, in collaboration with Thai Student Association of Guangdong and Jinan University, organised “SEA’s Songkran Festival 2013” at the College of Chinese Language and Culture, Jinan University.

During the opening ceremony, Mr. Ye Qin, Vice President of Jinan University said that Jinan University is the first university in China to recruit foreign students and was glad to be part of this cultural exchange activity. Afterwards, Mrs. Suphatra Srimaitreephithak, Consul-General to Guangzhou, delivered remarks on the history of Songkran Festival and relevant customs that Thai people inherit for generations such as Buddha Bathing Rite and Baisri-Su-Kwan ceremony. The honored guests from both Thai and Chinese sides also participated in the Buddha Bathing Rite and Baisri-su-kwan ceremony during the event.

On the stage were cultural performances from Thai, Laotian and Myanmese students. Participants had a chance to win lucky draws, the largest price being a Guangzhou-Bangkok roundtrip ticket sponsored by Thai Airways (Guangzhou Branch). Along one side of the stage were exhibitions booths explaining the festival and the participated countries. There were also booths that sold home-made snacks by the students. After the cultural performances and activities on the stage was the joyful water-splashing moment that visitors including the youths, the Chinese and the foreign students on the campus and the general public very much enjoyed.
