เมื่อวันที่ 18 ธันวาคม 2553 นายกษิต ภิรมย์ รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศได้พบหารือกับนายวาง หยาง เลขาธิการพรรคคอมมิวนิสต์จีนมณฑลกวางตุ้ง ระหว่างการเยือนนครกว่างโจวเพื่อเป็นประธานในพิธีวางศิลาฤกษ์สถานกงสุลใหญ่ ณ นครกว่างโจวแห่งใหม่

ระหว่างการหารือรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศได้แสดงความยินดีกับการพัฒนาและความก้าวหน้าของนครกว่างโจว การเป็นเจ้าภาพจัดการแข่งขันกีฬาเอเชียนเกมส์และเอเชียนพาราเกมส์ซึ่งสะท้อนถึงการเตรียมการเป็นอย่างดี และในนามของนายกรัฐมนตรี ขอขอบคุณที่ได้ให้ผลไม้เข้ามาเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของเอเชียนเกมส์ ซึ่งนายวาง หยาง ได้กล่าวว่า การมอบผลไม้และข้าวหอมมะลิไทยในช่วงเอเชียนเกมส์แสดงถึงความสำคัญที่ประเทศไทยให้กับมณฑลกวางตุ้ง

ทั้งสองฝ่ายยังได้หารือเกี่ยวกับการขยายความร่วมมือด้านการเกษตร วัฒนธรรม ตลอดจนด้านการศึกษา โดยเห็นพ้องว่า การเตรียมบุคลากรที่มีความรู้เกี่ยวกับประเทศไทยและจีนมีความสำคัญต่อการพัฒนาความสัมพันธ์และแลกเปลี่ยนระหว่างทั้งสองประเทศ ในโอกาสนี้ รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศยังได้เชิญนายวาง หยาง เยือนประเทศไทยในนามของนายกรัฐมนตรีอีกครั้งด้วย

หลังจากการพบหารือ รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศได้เดินทางไปเยี่ยมชมพิพิธภัณฑ์มณฑลกวางตุ้งแห่งใหม่ที่เพิ่งจะเปิดให้เข้าชมเมื่อเดือนพฤษภาคมที่ผ่านมา และนับว่าเป็นหนึ่งในพิพิธภัณฑ์ที่ดีที่สุดในประเทศจีน

On 18 December 2010, Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya met with Mr. Wang Yang, Chinese Communist Party Secretary of Guangdong during his visit to Guangzhou for presiding over the Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony of the new Royal Thai Consulate-General in Guangzhou.

During the meeting, Foreign Minister Kasit commended the rapid development of the city of Guangzhou and congratulated the city’s most recent success in hosting the Asian Games and Asian Para Games. Such accomplishment resulted from Guangzhou’s meticulous planning and preparation. On behalf of the Prime Minister of Thailand, the foreign minister also expressed his appreciation to Guangdong for enabling Thai fruits to be part of the Asian Games. In response, Mr. Wang Yang expressed that presentation of fruits and Hom Mali rice from Thailand to Guangdong reflects great importance Thailand has attached to the province.

Both sides also discussed expansion of cooperation in the fields of agriculture, cultural exchange and education. They agreed that human resources with knowledge of Thailand and China are vital to development of Thai-Sino relations and proliferation of exchanges between the two sides. Foreign Minister, on behalf of Prime Minister Abhisit, took the opportunity to invite Mr. Wang Yang to re-visit Thailand.

After the meeting, Foreign Minister Kasit visited the new Guangdong Musem, recently open in May. The museum ranks as one of the best in the PRC.
