On 28 November 2012, the Royal Thai Consulate – General, Guangzhou, in collaboration with   the  Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS), organized the Loy Krathong Festival 2012 at the GDUFS, North Campus. The event was held to promote Loy Kratong festival and Thai Culture among Chinese and foreigners in Guangzhou. More than 800 people attended the festival, comprising representatives of the consular corps in Guangzhou, executives from Foreign Affairs Office of Guangzhou Municipality, Thai and Chinese students from universities in Guangzhou. The event was open for the general public. 

      Apart from Kratong floating, the audiences enjoyed Thai Cultural Performance, Thai Boxing Show, Thai Costume Fashion Show, Thai Product & Food Exhibition Booths, Games and Quizes, Lucky Draws of Guangzhou – Bangkok round trip air tickets (sponsored by Thai Airways and Air Asia). The highlight included Nang Noppamas Beauty Pageant Contest participated by both Thai and Chinese students. The event was held successfully and drew much attention from the visitors.
